Gareth Mason, founder and clinical director of Guerilla Medical, has been a soldier in the Army Medical Services for the past 24 years. He began his career as a Private and has worked his way up through the ranks, commissioning to Officer in 2011. Qualifying as a nurse three years before he joined the Army, his medical career has seen him undertake a wide variety of roles starting as a diabetes ward nurse in the public health system in New Zealand, then progressing into the military where he was medical ward staff nurse in a military hospital, intensive care nurse for a deployable field surgical team, overseas primary health care nurse, senior nursing officer of various regimental medical centres, company medic for the Royal Marine Commandos, military nurse practitioner supporting 2 and 3 Para, then completing his career as Health Care Governance Officer for 16 Air Assault Brigade Combat Team. 

He is a qualified Independent Nurse Prescriber and has completed multiple operational tours across Bosnia, Iraq and Ghana, including deployments with special forces in Afghanistan. As part of the military response to International Nurses Day in 2020, he was chosen to speak with members of the Royal household including, as they were then, Her Royal Highnesses The Countess of Wessex and The Duchess of Cambridge. In 2023 he provided humanitarian disaster relief in Turkey after it was devastated by an earthquake and was at the forefront of parachute trials for the new Royal Air Force A400 transport aircraft. He was the clinical director/lecturer for the British Army Trauma Life Support course 2022-23 and is now sharing this vast array of skills, experience and knowledge as the Ofqual registered first aid trainer overseeing all of the training delivered by Guerilla Medical.
